LWV Oshkosh Area Activities

LWV Oshkosh Area holds monthly "Food for Thought" luncheons which feature speakers on various city, county, school, state and national topics of interest to League members. Meetings are always open to the public.

Prior to each primary and general election, we sponsor candidate forums in cooperation with Oshkosh Community Access Television CitiCable 10. We also assist with voter registration.

We hold periodic community forums on topics related to current League studies or governmental issues. One example is the Immigration Forum in November 07.

Food for Thought Luncheons

LWV Oshkosh Area holds monthly "Food for Thought" luncheons which feature speakers on various city, county, school, state and national topics of interest to League members. These buffet luncheons are held at noon on the second Wednesday of every month at the China King Restaurant, 280 S. Koeller, Oshkosh. No reservation is needed. Meetings are always open to the public.

Homeless Study Report -- 2005

The LWV Oshkosh undertook a study of the role of local government in providing shelter for the homeless. A League committee collected data and conducted interviews with service providers as well as with the City of Oshkosh Community Development Department. This report focuses on the issue of homeless people in Oshkosh and includes data on the estimated number of homeless persons, availability of shelter beds and identifies gaps in services to the homeless.
